This week I'll be having a one on one sit down with men as we tackle the sins that we all often struggle with. Well, if you're a woman don't feel left out, grab a stool and let's learn together a few insights that you can share with the men in your life. Fasten your belts and let's hit the road..
* LEADERSHIP SINS *
The lack-of-leadership plague has spread throughout the male population ever since Adam. We're not in the Garden of Eden anymore, standing by the tree of knowledge with some tasty- looking but forbidden fruit in our hands. Yet we come to plenty other points of decision where we have to choose whether to step up and lead as God wants us to or drop the ball and do nothing -or maybe worse than nothing.
Let's put a name on it when we choose a course of action that's different from biblical leadership. It's sin. In fact, a whole series of sins tend to characterize men who are failing in masculine leadership.
Take some time to carefully examine your life. Do you recognize any of the following sins as holding you back from the leader God has called you to be? They all represent different ways of shirking on your duty to lead.
1. The sin of acting "Macho"
Being "Macho" is a pretentious, swaggering display of false masculinity. It's the idea that whatever women do, you do the opposite. Such as, since women are nurturing, you're not. Or since women are caring, you're not. If you're "macho", then (assuming you have kids) you're the guy who never changes a diaper.
If you've succumbed to the sin of acting "macho", then you're the guy who, even though the scripture says hospitality is a spiritual gift of both women and men, would never think to help your wife tidy up the house if company is coming over. That's what women do, you say. But a man who leads biblically values hospitality because God values it. If company is coming over, a true man of God knows that part of his call is to make sure his house is in order. That means either helping his wife out or doing the job himself.
Instead of being "macho", which is really an abdication of leadership, Philippians 4:5 points to true biblical leadership: "Let your gentleness be evident to all." Gentleness means you're not severe or rough. A man of gentleness is the coolest guy in the room, a man of peace, even in the face of the most ruthless attack. Want to access your inner man? Don't swagger. Don't put on some kind of ridiculous show of masculinity. Be a true gentleman.
I hope you found this Helpful, Have a gentle day ahead. 😊
