Over time I have come to understand that success is quite predictable. If you want to be successful, take more risks and chances. The problem with most of us is that we want to figure out the whole road before we start the journey. But that's not how God works. God wants us to trust Him to take us through the journey. The fear of taking risks and trying out something new, something spontaneous and something that gets us out of our comfort zones is what is holding us back from our divine destiny leaving us living a mediocre life enjoying average success.
You see, God intentionally put the best experiences, your divine destiny and life's greatest memories on the other side of fear. This is because when you have everything figured out on your own, then you won't need Him. But he wants you to trust Him to take you through the journey even when you don't know what the road looks like.
God wants us to solely seek and rely on him. That's why Jesus in the Lord's prayer asked us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." Read Mathew 6:11
It could be easier for us to ask God for our yearly bread but God knows if that was the case then we would only be seeking him once a year. So that's why we need to seek him everyday for our daily bread.
Now back to Fear;
Fear has been the biggest enemy to the zeal and need to achieve the goals and dreams we had in our childhood. It has caused us to lead a life that is driven by the approval of others. Not the goals and dreams anymore..but that one goal 'approval.' We fear to do something unique and stand out from the crowd. We fear failure more than we desire success.
But Romans 12:2 urges us not to conform to the patterns of this world.
We fear taking the risk to follow our dreams and maximize our potential to the fullest. There is no more creativity because we are afraid that it won't be approved.
The reality is that fear is a mental muscle that needs regular attention. And if you don't actively seek to safely challenge it, it will eventually control your life and limit your possibilities. If we let fear choose the experiences that we get to have, most of the impactful and memorable moments of our lives will remain unlived and potential untapped. Research says that 99% of people die having utilized only 1% of their potential. That's why the grave is the wealthiest place on earth - that's where talents that were never discovered, potential untapped and million-dollar ideas lie comfortably.
You know what? I don’t regret anything I’ve ever done in life, any choice that I’ve made. But I’m consumed with regret for the things I didn’t do, the choices I didn’t make, the things I didn’t say. We spend so much time being afraid of failure, afraid of rejection. But regret is the thing we should fear most. Failure is an answer. Rejection is an answer. Regret is an eternal question you will never have the answer to. “What if…” “If only…” “I wonder what would have…” You will never, never know, and it will haunt you for the rest of your days.
Never hold yourself back for thinking you ain't ready enough. There are no perfect times and you'll never be prepared enough. Just do it, you'll deal with the consequences later. Apply for that job. Send that email. Start that business. Leave that toxic relationship. Go for that vacation. Quit that draining job. Submit that proposal. Register that company. This is because in the end, we only regret the things we didn't say, the places we didn't go and the decisions we didn't make.
I hope you found this impactful, have a wonderful day and blessed week ahead!
