This week we've been tackling the series of sins that men often struggle with unknowingly and how to overcome them in order to access your real inner man. We begun with the leadership sin on #reflection_mondays and now we've got the second one.
2. THE SIN OF MATERIALISM
Many men think that their biggest calling is providing for their family. From there, they reason that making money is the best - or even the only - thing a man should do.
Wrong.
It's true that a part of a man's calling is to provide for his family. It is his job to wake up to the alarm in the morning, crawl out of bed, go to work, and make sure his family's needs are met. But too many men think their job is to buy everything their kids want, like the new Xbox or a vacation to Chaka Ranch. Or to make sure that their wife drives the latest and most expensive BMW. Or that their family lives in the best house they can possibly afford.
Instead, what children and spouses really want from men is more of them.
What your wife really wants is a husband who pursues her and cherishes her and cares about her emotional and spiritual needs.
What your children really want is to spend more time with you. The chance to play and crawl on your lap is all they need.
Our call to provide exists, yes, but that's certainly not where the calling ends. Want to access your inner man? Watch out for the lure of Materialism. Learn to seek after what's truly important in life instead. Be there for your family and support them not only financially and physically but also emotionally and spiritually.
I hope you found this Useful. Have a purposeful day ahead.
